Godrej Agrovet announced release of 'Gracia' insecticide for controlling chewing & sucking pests

Godrej Agrovet Ltd (GAVL) has announced the release of Gracia, an insecticide that aids in the management of chewing and sucking pests in a wide range of pulse and vegetable crops. The GAVL hopes that the product would help it enhance its position in the insecticides market segment.

Gracia (fluxametamide, an isoxazoline chemical) is a broad-spectrum product discovered and produced by Nissan Chemical Corporation Japan and presented to the market in association with GAVL.

Godrej Agrovet plans to venture into oil palm and plant up to one lakh hectares

Godrej claims that Gracia controls chewing and sucking pests including larva, caterpillars, and thrips in farms growing a range of pulses, spicy peppers, cole crops, tomatoes, brinjal, and okra. According to the company, it also has high sensitivity and specificity when it comes to animals and beneficial insects.

‘As part of our overall commitment to doubling farmers’ income, we have always used initiatives tailored to Indian markets and farmers. After Hanabi, Gracia is the second Nissan Chemical product that we are bringing in the nation,’ said Balram Singh Yadav, Managing Director of Godrej Agrovet Ltd.

‘The Indian crop protection industry is projected to be worth approximately ₹25,000 crore, with insecticides accounting for 39% of the total. With the introduction of Gracia, we will increase our position in this specific sub-segment, which is believed to be a ₹1,500-crore market potential,’ Yadav added.

Standing Committee dismissed pesticides company’s demand on three key issues

In 2019, GAVL introduced Nissan’s Hanabi, a miticide. ‘Gracia is a fast-acting, broad-spectrum insecticide that will help us maintain our leadership in the crop protection industry,’ said Rakesh Dogra, CEO of GAVL’s Crop Protection Division.

‘We are optimistic that, like Hanabi, Gracia will find widespread adoption,’ stated Raj Kumar Yadav, MD of Nissan Chemical Corporation (India).
