Kerala Agricultural University (KAU), Vellanikkara, has transferred the chocolate-making technology developed by its Cocoa Research Centre to the Kothamangalam Agriculture Producer Company.

The technology transfer was undertaken as part of the efforts to enhance the value of cocoa farmers’ produce and promote cocoa-based entrepreneurial activities, said Minimol J S, Professor and Head of the Cocoa Research Centre and Principal Investigator of the technology.
Value-added products
The officials highlighted that taking technologies developed by Kerala Agricultural University to farmer groups and agro-processing enterprises would help strengthen the approach of converting agricultural produce into value-added products.

Minimol said that the Centre would continue to provide the necessary technical support to the technology recipient until the enterprise achieves self-sufficiency.
