Jharkhand plans to build 100 ‘Krishak Pathshala’ (farm schools) in the next three years to educate farmers

Within the next three years, Jharkhand plans to build 100 ‘Krishak Pathshala’ (farm schools) to teach farmers in scientific ways of capacity development.

The objective is to provide farmers with contemporary agricultural practices in order to increase agricultural production while also increasing their income.

Agriculture in Jharkhand

Jharkhand means ‘the land of forests’, Agriculture is one of the main components of Jharkhand’s economy that contributes to its growth. Farmers in Jharkhand grow rice, maize, legumes, potatoes, wheat, and vegetables like tomato, carrots, cabbage, brinjal, pumpkin, and papaya.

Furthermore, the pathshalas will raise knowledge of agricultural, animal husbandry, and cooperation department schemes, among others.

In the first phase of the Integrated Birsa Vikas Yojana, the plan is to build 17 Krishak Pathshalas. In the next three years, another 100 of these facilities will be built.

‘All agricultural activities will be put together for demonstration reasons, with farmers coming to study scientific methods of learning. Under the cluster concept, each pathshala will be linked with 3-5 Birsa villages,’ said Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Cooperative secretary Abu Bakr Siddiqui.
