FMC India, an agrochemical company, has introduced Corprima, an insecticide that is said to be effective against tomato and okra fruit borers.
‘Powered by FMC’s world-leading Rynaxypyr insect control technology, Corprima will provide greater crop protection against fruit borers, one of the biggest pain points for farmers,’ the company said in a statement.

According to the company, the insecticide has been shown to provide better returns to farmers by having a longer duration of pest control as well as improved flower and fruit retention, resulting in larger harvests of higher quality.
Innovative solution for farmer
‘The country’s horticultural crop production reached a new high last year.’ Every year, however, tomato and okra farmers suffer significant losses due to fruit borer pests, diseases, and post-harvest losses, among other factors. ‘At FMC, we use innovation to solve farmer challenges by introducing sustainable products and solutions,’ said Ravi Annavarapu, President of FMC India. The product will be available in 6 gm, 17 gm, and 34 gm packs, according to the company.

According to agrochemical industry experts, tomato farmers lose up to 65 % of their yields to fruit borers each year. This pest infestation causes flower dropping and poor plant health, resulting in poor quality fruiting and a negative impact on crop yields, according to experts.
