As the rains start to diminish, weather bloggers wishing rainy Deepavali

Rainy Deepavali wishes by weather bloggers as the rains start to diminish over south Indian coastal states!

The weather and climate bloggers in Tamil Nadu capital are predicting a wet Deepavali today (Thursday), as a rain-driving low-pressure region has extended its stay over the South-East Arabian Sea and the surrounding Lakshadweep area overnight.

The subject was put into perspective by a blogger who tweeted about a wet start to the day as a helpful trough spread down the Tamil Nadu coast. Within a few hours, he expected the ‘drizzling rain bands’ to ‘taper off.’

‘This is a historic day for Tamil Nadu’

However, the previous day had been ‘another tremendous day for Tamil Nadu,’ as the Arabian Sea ‘low’ continued to pummelled various districts, according to the post.

@ChennaiRains also posted similar views, observing a minor decrease in precipitation throughout Tamil Nadu but predicting scattered heavy rains in regions of the north and west throughout the wet Deepavali day. During the morning hours, intermittent rains may continue to fall over Chennai and its suburbs.

‘Low’ is expected to become more intense

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) was keeping an eye on the ‘low’ over the South-East Arabian Sea and adjacent Lakshadweep, which was expected to move north-northwest and become more noticeable over the following two days.

The ensemble of helpful atmospheric features was completed by a trough extending from the Comorin to the West-Central Bay of Bengal off the coast of South Andhra Pradesh, across the Gulf of Mannar (Located between the west coast of Sri Lanka and the southeastern tip of India, in the Coromandel Coast region) and the Tamil Nadu coast, and another trough in easterlies extending from Lakshadweep to the East-Central Arabian Sea off the coast of Karnataka.

Forecast for Rainfall

Light to moderate rainfall is expected in many/most locations over the South Peninsula for the next five days, with isolated thunderstorms and lightning in a few spots over Goa, South Konkan, South Marathawada, and south Madhya Maharashtra until Sunday.

During the next five days, heavy rain is expected in isolated areas across Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, Puducherry, Mahe, Yanam, Kerala, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Interior Karnataka, and Rayalaseema; on Thursday, Coastal Karnataka and Telangana; and on Friday and Saturday, Goa, South Konkan, and South Madhya Maharashtra.
