India’s agricultural exports, which are currently worth more than $ 50 billion, are expected to double by 2030 and reach $ 100 billion, Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal said on Monday. He stated that the country plans to export $ 2 trillion in goods and services by 2030.

“I am confident that India’s current $ 50 billion exports will be doubled to nearly $100 billion by 2030,” he said at the IndusFood Show 2024 here.

According to the secretary, segments such as ready-to-eat foods have enormous growth potential. He also urged the industry to focus on the technical standards required by importing countries.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, who opened the show, stated that the country’s agricultural exports exceeded $ 53 billion last year, despite restrictions on shipments of certain key commodities such as rice, wheat, and sugar. Earlier, an official stated that the export ban and restrictions on these commodities could reduce exports by $ 4-5 billion this fiscal year. The government has prohibited the export of wheat and non-basmati white rice, as well as sugar.

Speaking at the event, Trade Promotion Council of India Chairman Mohit Singla stated that the three-day show will feature over 1,200 exhibitors and more than 7,500 buyers from around the world, representing approximately 90 countries.

He added that over 80 retail chains are participating, including Choithrams, Carrefour, Khimji Ramdas, Grand Hypermarket, Nesto, Mustafa, X5, Lulu, Almaya Group, and Spar.
