CIFT& SOFTI to host a global conference on gender issues in aquaculture and Fisheries at Kochi
The 8th Global Symposium on Gender in Aquaculture and Fisheries (GAF8) will take place at IMA House in Kochi from November 21–23.
The Asian Fisheries Society’s Gender in Aquaculture and Fisheries Section, the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT) in Kochi, and the Society of Fisheries Technologists (India) (SOFTI) are organizing the conference.

GAF8, the eighth in the global series, is themed ‘Shaping the Future: Gender Justice for Sustainable Aquaculture & Fisheries’ and highlights several sub-themes linked to gender concerns in the fisheries sector.
The goal of the conference is to bring up gender issues in aquaculture and fisheries and look at possible solutions through the lens of gender. The conference will give people from all over the world who are interested in fisheries and related activities a chance to share new ideas and form networks.

Over 300 scientists, academics, gender specialists, politicians, and students from India and around the world will attend the three-day conference. GAF8 will feature papers from delegates from 20 countries.
