Budget 2024 – envisions sustained efforts on nine priorities to create opportunities
The Union Finance Minister unveiled nine Union Budget priorities for 2024-25, laying out a road map for Modi’s third term. She cited agriculture, employment, human development, energy security, manufacturing, innovation, infrastructure, and next-generation reforms. This full budget builds on the plans announced by Ms. Sitharaman in the interim budget released in February.
“People have given our government a unique opportunity to lead the country to prosperity. “This Budget envisions sustained efforts on the following nine priorities to create ample opportunities for all,” Ms. Sitharaman stated. She added that this year’s budget will prioritize the aspirations of all citizens, regardless of religion, caste, gender, or age.

Talking about the Indian economy’s rise, she said, “India’s economic growth continues to shine while the global economy is still in the grip of policy uncertainty, The country’s inflation continues to be stable and is moving towards 4 percent, and core inflation stands at 3.1percent”. The Economic Survey 2024-25, which was tabled in Parliament on Monday, estimated India’s pre-COVID growth rate to be 7 percent or higher in the medium term.

This is Ms. Sitharaman’s seventh budget speech and her second term as Union Finance Minister. After receiving the people’s mandate for a third term in June, this is the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) first budget following the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
