After protests broke out at the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) at its Wadura campus in the north Kashmir district on Friday night, the accused person was suspended from his job and an investigation was opened against him.
The accused person is the head of the university’s division of agriculture extension and communication, so the students wanted him to be punished severely.
The police also opened a case at the Bomai police station and started looking into it. The suspect was then arrested late Friday night and is still in police custody, the officials said.
In an order sent out on Friday, the university’s registrar said that the accused person has been put on immediate suspension.
