Hangal Coffee Exporting Pvt. Ltd., founded by a family of coffee growers in Kodagu, has announced the implementation of an EUDR (European Union Deforestation Regulation) – compliant solution powered by TRST01’s sustainable supply chain.

TRST01, also known as TrayamBhu Tech Solutions Pvt Ltd, is headquartered in Hyderabad, and TRST01Chain is a sustainable supply chain solution designed to assist exporters in complying with EUDR regulations.

Hangal Coffee stated that the implementation of the EUDR-compliant TRST01Chain demonstrates the company’s commitment to meeting global standards while increasing sustainability throughout its supply chain. This initiative not only strengthens the company’s commitment to sustainable practices, but it also establishes a standard for the Indian coffee industry, according to a statement.

TRST01 has set up similar sustainability compliance solutions with cutting-edge technology in 18 global rubber, coffee, and cocoa companies, including Apollo Tyres and CEAT in India, Golden Rubber in the Ivory Coast, Tower Commodities and Gadjah Ruku in Indonesia, and Seng Hin in Malaysia.

Anil Sitaraman, Executive Director of Hangal Coffee, stated, “We are excited to collaborate with TRST01 to implement this groundbreaking solution. TRST01Chain not only aligns with our sustainability values, but also provides transparency and traceability in our operations.”

Prabir Mishra, CEO of TRST01, stated, “We applaud Hangal Coffee Exporters for their proactive approach to EUDR compliance. The commitment of the company’s leadership to adopting an EUDR-compliant solution demonstrates the transformative power of data-driven technologies in promoting sustainable supply chains.”

The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) legislation aims to limit the import of specific commodities from deforested areas. Since December 31, 2020, companies exporting commodities such as coffee, cocoa, rubber, oil palm, soy, timber, and cattle along with products derived of it to European Union markets must conduct thorough deforestation analysis, detailed risk assessment, and risk mitigation to ensure these goods are not sourced from deforested areas. The EUDR emphasises the importance of complying with environmental and social laws that include sustainability principles. Beginning January 1, 2025, all specific commodities, regardless of form, must comply with these regulations when imported into Europe.
TRST01Chain, known for its data-driven sustainability impact, enables organizations to achieve compliance seamlessly while driving meaningful environmental outcomes. According to the statement, this collaboration is an important step toward ensuring the global coffee market’s long-term viability.
According to industry estimates, India exports 57% of its coffee to the EU, worth over $600 million (₹5,000 crore) annually. The EUDR regulation has created an urgent need for these industries to adapt and innovate while maintaining environmentally friendly production practices. Indian coffee production consists of 70% robusta beans and 30% arabica beans.
