All variants of packaged milk and curd of the Nandini brand cost ₹2/liter
The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), the country’s second-largest dairy co-operative, has announced a ₹ 2 per liter price increase for all variants of packaged milk and curd sold under the Nandini brand, effective Thursday.
Nandini-toned milk containing 3% fat and 8.5% SNF (solids-not-fat) will now cost ₹ 39 per liter (the earlier price of ₹ 37 per liter). Similarly, milk with 6% fat and 9% SNF is now priced at ₹ 50 per liter (₹ 48), while curd is now priced at ₹ 47 per kg (₹ 45).

KMF Chairman Balachandra Jharkiholi stated that the entire ₹ 2 per liter increase will be passed on to dairy farmers. The state’s dairy farmers are facing challenges such as rising feed and fodder costs and the spread of lumpy skin disease, which is affecting milk production.
Daily milk procurement has dropped to 78.8 lakh liters from 94.2 lakh liters in June 2022. KMF attributes the decline to factors such as poor weather, low-paying jobs, and lumpy skin disease, among others.
KMF farmer members receive approximately 79% of the consumer rupee. There are approximately 26 lakh farmers in the state who are members of various milk unions, with an average of 10 lakh farmers selling their milk to KMF. Approximately 85 percent of these 10 lakh farmers are small and marginal farmers with 1-3 cows. Nandini’s previous hike occurred in February of 2000.
