Because of the good monsoon, the area under paddy cultivation has surpassed 4.9 lakh acres. Furthermore, after many years of waiting, all of the major dams have been opened, resulting in more than 10 lakh acres of paddy cultivation.

Over the last year, this has increased the area under cultivation to 2.72 lakh acres. As a result, the total area of cropland cultivated has surpassed 55.5 lakh acres.

From October 26, samba cultivation is expected to be prosperous this year, and demand for all fertilizers, particularly urea fertilizer, is expected to rise.

From April to September 2021, the Centre proposed supplying 4.911 lakh MT of urea. However, because fertilizer companies have only supplied 3.852 lakh MT of urea thus far, there is a 1.059 lakh MT deficit.

Similarly, while 1.47 lakh MT DAP was supposed to be supplied during the above period, fertilizer companies only supplied 1.15 lakh MT of fertilizers, resulting in a 32,000 MT shortage.

The samba cultivation period is critical for Tamil Nadu. This year, State Government intends to produce all food grains, including 125 lakh MT of rice, cereals, and pulses, as well as expand cultivated land.
