The state is ahead of other states in Agri Infra, has proposals value ₹1,000cr for Agriculture Infrastruct fund

Central Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar stated that Madhya Pradesh (MP) is ahead of several other states in the country in terms of developing agricultural infrastructure. He also stated that the MP’s proposals are worth ₹ 1,000 crores out of the ₹ 10,000 crores in proposals received by the Centre so far under its ambitious Agriculture Infrastructure Fund scheme.

Tomar made the remarks while chairing a meeting on agriculture infrastructure and other issues with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and state Agriculture Minister Kamal Patel at the state secretariat here on Thursday.

‘The work in the agriculture sector in Madhya Pradesh has the potential to change the lives of farmers. These works are outstanding. With a fund of Rs one lakh crore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund for the development of agricultural infrastructure’ Tomar was quoted as saying by a public relations official.

‘The Centre has received proposals valued at ₹ 10,000 crores from different states under this scheme, and banks have already approved proposals worth ₹ 5,000 crores. The state of Madhya Pradesh has the most proposals totaling ₹ 1,000 crore, which is commendable’ He stated.

He also mentioned that MP has received the most loan facilities in the government’s various schemes and that the state is ahead of other states in terms of agricultural infrastructure development.

He said the state was doing a good job with the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, the National Agriculture Development Scheme, and improving the lives of its farmers, and that the Centre was also launching the Digital Agriculture Mission to help farmers.

Tomar also stated that by working on a mission mode, Madhya Pradesh will arise as a ‘model state’ in the country in the agricultural sectors.

He also requested that the state government train ‘Kisan Mitra’ (farmers’ friends) for the overall welfare of the agricultural sectors and develop an app for the Girdavari system’s operation (report prepared by patwari having all details related to agriculture land and crop acreage).

On the occasion, Chouhan discussed the steps being taken by the state government to develop agriculture, as well as how the prime minister and agriculture minister have assured farmers that they will continue to receive Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) at ₹ 1,200 per bag, despite the fact that its price has risen to ₹ 2,400 per bag.

‘Farmers will not have to pay more because the government will increase the subsidy component to bridge the gap,’ he added.
