Swaraj Tractors, expands footprint by launching a series of paddy mechanization projects

Swaraj Tractors, a subsidiary of the USD 19.4 billion Mahindra Group and one of the quickest growing brands in the Indian tractor industry, has launched a series of paddy mechanisation projects in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as the company expands its footprint in the state.

Swaraj has recently launched the New Swaraj 742XT tractor as one of the largest tractor players in both markets and with paddy as one of the main kharif crops in the region. Developed exclusively for paddy mechanisation, the new 45hp (33.55 kW) tractor has achieved success in puddling performance and fuel efficiency.

Swaraj has also launched a range of farm machinery and harvesting solutions for large acre farms and small land holdings, ranging from wet paddy to dry cereals, with the goal of increasing production and reducing grain losses.

The corporation will also introduce new tractors in the higher HP range, which include 4-Wheel Drive tractors and lower HP tractors, to support small farmers in their puddling operations. Speaking about this development, Harish Chavan – Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Swaraj Division said, ‘With paddy as the key crop of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, we at Swaraj want to build on our strong brand in the State by introducing a range of  farming solutions for the paddy growing farmer.’

Increased scope for rice crop mechanization in the State will further enable farmers to contribute to a significant improvement in the productivity and production of paddy from these states. We’ll keep introducing products and solutions designed specifically for paddy farming in the area.’ With traditional methods of paddy cultivation being labour-intensive, time-consuming and less profitable, there is a slow transition from manual labour to mechanical shift in both states. With tractor sales more than doubling in the last five years, continued support from respective state governments, as well as other favourable conditions, paddy production has increased.’
