Prof. Joshi has been appointed Director of the IIPM Bangalore

Prof. Rakesh Mohan Joshi, a distinguished academician, and renowned management expert has been appointed Director of the Indian Institute of Plantation Management (IIPM), Bangalore, an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

IIPMB is India’s flagship institute, known for its excellence in research and education in plantation and related agri-business management, and it collaborates closely with commodities boards and the plantation industry across the whole value chain. Prof. Joshi was the Professor and Dean of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade in New Delhi, where he was in charge of the institute’s education, training, and research.

Prof. Joshi has a consistently exceptional academic record, having received numerous scholarships from his school days through post-graduation, including the famous Gold Medal from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT).

He has received International Awards from London Business School for case studies that have been published globally by European Case Clearing House (ECCH), London Business School, and Oxford.
Prof. Joshi routinely publishes in national media on current economic issues, and he was also the Editor of the distinguished quarterly publication of the IIFT, Foreign Trade Review. He wrote two best-selling books for Oxford University Press, ‘International Business’ and ‘International Marketing.’

Prof. Joshi has the significant transnational experience and has worked with a number of international institutions, including the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, UNCTAD, the International Dairy Federation, the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), and others.

He has undertaken research, training programmes taught and consulted in a variety of countries, including the United States, China, Russia, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, UAE, Singapore, Egypt, Hong Kong, Thailand, Tanzania, Oman, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Turkey, Rwanda, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Sudan, Mauritius, Seychelles, Niger, Philippines, and others.

Prof. Joshi has led training programmes for corporate executives, government officials, and diplomats in India and abroad, including customised programmes for IAS (Indian Administrative Service), IFS (Indian Foreign Service), IRS (Indian Revenue Service), ITS (Indian Trade Service), IES (Indian Economic Service), ISS (Indian Statistical Service) officers, and foreign diplomats.

As the Chairman of the UGC Committees on ‘Framing the Regulations for Foreign Educational Institutes’ Entry and Operations in India’ and the Chairman of the Expert Group for ‘Development of Educational Framework for Global Citizenship in Higher Education Institutions,’ he has been actively involved at various stages of the National Education Policy 2020, particularly in its internationalisation aspects. He is currently the Chairman of
the Business Services Sectional Committee, Bureau of Indian Standards and Government of India.

Prof. Joshi has worked on various research initiatives with central and state governments, multilateral organisations, and industries that have had substantial policy ramifications. As an expert, author, and speaker in conferences, workshops, TV channels, and a variety of other national and international forums, he is one of the country’s few highly sought-after management instructors.
