PM to inaugurate ‘IDF World Dairy Summit 2022’ Karnataka CM also to join.

Next Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the ‘IDF World Dairy Summit 2022’ in Greater Noida. According to Union Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying Minister Parshottam Rupala, more than 1,500 delegates (including 300 from abroad) from 50 countries are expected to attend.

When talking to the media about the upcoming event, which will take place in Greater Noida in the national capital region, he said that the theme of the 4-day event is ‘Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihood.’ Rupala said that in addition to the Prime Minister, other union ministers like Amit Shah and the chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Gujarat will also speak at the summit.

In 1974, India was the last country to host the International Dairy Congress. Every year, people from all over the world gather for the World Dairy Summit.

‘India makes more milk than any other country and produces 23% of the world’s milk. Foreign delegates would talk about what they had learned and the newest technologies in the dairy industry. We’d tell them what we had learned,’ Rupala said.

He said that the world should know that 80–85% of the money made from selling milk in India goes to dairy farmers. He said that the large co-op Amul alone pays farmers about 150 crores every day for milk.

Meenesh Shah, who is the acting chairman of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), said that between 700 and 800 farmers from all over the country will also be there. India will show how it has changed through a unique smallholder dairying model that is mostly based on a co-op.

About eight crore dairy farmers, who are mostly small and marginal and have an average of two cows, play a big role in the 220 million tonnes of milk that are made in India every year.
