PM Modi highlights the contribution of women to India’s dairy sector at IDF WDS.

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about how important women are to India’s dairy industry. He said that women are real leaders.

PM Modi said at the start of the International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit (IDF WDS) 2022 that 70% of India’s dairy workers are women and that more than a third of the members of India’s dairy cooperatives are women.

‘India’s dairy industry is really run by women, he said. In 2014, India made 146 million tonnes of milk, but now it makes 210 million tonnes, which is an increase of about 44 percent.’

At the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida, the International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit 2022 is being held. Prime Minister Modi also went to the India Expo Centre and Mart to look at an exhibition.

He told the audience that India’s digital revolution has spread to the dairy industry, and that the digital payment system made for India’s dairy industry can help farmers everywhere.

PM Modi said, ‘India’s dairy sector is known for production by masses rather than mass production. Today, 8 crore families are employed in the dairy sector, and India has become the world’s largest producer of dairy products because of the work of small-scale dairy farmers.’

The prime minister said that both the central government and the state governments are working to control Lumpy skin disease, which has recently killed livestock in many states.

‘We are also putting a lot of effort into making sure that all animals are vaccinated. By 2025, all animals will be vaccinated against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and Brucellosis,’ he said.

Union minister Purshottam Rupala said at the World Diary Summit 2022 that it was being held in India for the first time in 48 years. Also Read | PM to inaugurate ‘IDF World Dairy Summit 2022’ Karnataka CM also to join.

‘After more than 48 years, the World Dairy Summit 2022 is being held in India. Our milk production is now 220 million tonnes, and we are able to export extra milk in line with ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat,’ he said.

The theme of the four-day IDF WDS 2022 is ‘Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihood,’ and it brings together industry leaders, experts, farmers, and policymakers from around the world and India. IDF WDS 2022 is expected to have about 1,500 people from 50 different countries. About 50 years ago, in 1974, the last meeting of this kind was held in India.
