Need extra steps to develop agri sector by encouraging MSMEs – Om Birla

On Thursday, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla called for steps to further develop the agricultural sector and stressed the need to emphasis energy efforts on boosting exports from the agri-business sector by encouraging MSMEs.

Speaking at a national MSME conclave organised by the CA Institute, Birla said that focusing on the growth of the agricultural sector would also help to minimise migration from rural to urban populations.

Two IICA initiatives launch

Birla launched two India Institute of Chartered Accountants initiatives on the occasion, carrying out 100 GST and MSME seva kendras (help desk on GST and other tax compliance) and MSME mentoring services.

The Speaker of Lok Sabha stressed that MSMEs are the backbone of the Indian economy and should be encouraged to achieve Aatmanirbharata (self reliant). At the same time, he also noted that India should not be content with merely being the world’s market, but with the production of goods for the entire world.

India is a young nation and young people have the potential to succeed and the technological ability to do so. MSMEs will be further improved and play an even more important role in achieving Aatmanirbhar Bharat in the days to come. added Birla.
