According to Lakshmi Narayan Chaudhari, Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries, the development is in line with the goal of doubling farmers’ income and will motivate and involve milk producers in dairy farming.

Notably, in addition to Uttar Pradesh, the NDDB manages dairy unions in Assam, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, and Marathwada in Maharashtra.

According to Atul Chaturvedi, Secretary of Animal Husbandry, the Varanasi Milk Union plant will soon be able to process 2 lakh liters of milk per day.

Mr. Chaturvedi also mentioned that Varanasi Milk Union will be the country’s first milk union to install a biogas-powered trigeneration plant in the country.

The plant is expected to meet the dairy’s entire energy needs while also remarkably reducing its carbon footprint by minimizing the use of traditional fuels.

Varanasi Milk Union has been assured of the necessary support from NDDB Chairman Meenesh Shah in order for them to better serve their members.

‘The efforts of the Dairy Board will be to streamline governance processes, focus on providing remunerative prices to milk producers, and ensure that consumers receive safe and hygienic liquid milk and milk products,’ he said.
