Increased livestock population led to raise in dairy incomes – Minister

Telangana dairy farmers' income increased

Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Farming, said on Saturday that the numerous improvement programmes in Telangana have led to an increase in the population of livestock, thereby helping the raise dairy farmers’ incomes in the state.

In all the districts, veterinary hospitals are supplied with adequate medicine and facilities such as ‘Dial 1962’ and the presence of Gopal Mitra staff helped to increase the numbers, the Minister said.

Mr. Yadav was here on Saturday at the Munagala mandal village of Akupamula, en route to the Darshan temple in Vijayawada, and initiated a deworming programme for large animals.

He also launched the animal health camp along with Mallaiah Yadav the Kodad legislator and District Collector T. Vinay Krishna Reddy and inspected the milk and calves varieties on show.

Talking at the gathering, Mr. Yadav assured staff at Gopal Mitra that daily salaries will be paid soon. He also ordered officials to discipline the veterinary unit for the compound wall and facilities. The deworming exercise would target around 2.40 lakh dairy animals, according to officials.

Dairy farming ever ending business opportunity!

Department Secretary Anita Rajendra, Director V. Lakshma Reddy, and CEO Manjuvani and others of the Livestock Development Agency participated in the event.

Nalgonda legislator K. Bhupal Reddy,  along with the officials at  Appajipeta in Nalgonda mandal,  led the deworming programme.

“In comparison to the statements made by Minister Yadav in Akupamula, Mr. Reddy expressed his concern that the population of livestock in the telangana state has been declining and needs to be thought on serious note. He urged farmers to stick to and take good care of the animals in the deworming programme.

Mr. Reddy also made requests for sanctions to Mr. Lakshma Reddy for the construction of 10 new centers, pointing to the insufficient veterinary centers in his Assembly constituency.
