The visiting delegation met with senior officials from PAU, deans of constituent colleges, additional directors of research and extension education, and heads of various departments during their stay.

He praised PAU’s contribution to the improvement of agricultural assets and stated that Kenya was an expert in the development of poultry. “Kenya is interested in assisting Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) with the agricultural problems that the province is experiencing. We should collaborate on projects that are in accordance with the laws and regulations of both countries “he explained.

“We need to think about farmers and how we can motivate them to adopt new technologies,” he said, recognizing the close ties that PAU has with farmers in Punjab.

According to Nzomo, there are numerous parallels between Punjabi and Kenyan agriculture. “Because we are both rice and wheat producers, we would like to concentrate on food and nutrition, as well as food diversification through cereals and pulses,” she said, expressing interest in the field of extension as well as praising PAU’s skill development training.

Director of research AS Dhatt gave a presentation on the subject of “‘PAU and the Green Revolution,’ the statement continued: “PAU is a pioneer of the green revolution, apiculture, cattle breeding, and farm mechanization, among other things. The university, which possesses exceptional human resources and maintains a strong connection with the farming community, has played a significant role in the development of agriculture in Punjab as well as the rest of the country.”

He stated that the current focus is on increasing crop productivity and quality while also increasing crop tolerance to abiotic and biotic stresses, among other things.

In the areas of field crops (wheat, rice, maize, cotton, and sugarcane), horticulture, food technology, apiculture, agroforestry, water use efficiency, and farm machinery, Dhatt suggested collaborating with the  PAU and Kenya.

Deputy associate director (skill development) Kuldeep Singh stated that it is vital for officers and scientists to educate and exhort farmers to diversify their cropping systems by cultivating fruits and vegetables, as well as to use water wisely by adopting appropriate irrigation methods.

According to Jaswinder Singh Brar, professor of fruit science, the trainees were given both theoretical and practical knowledge about new cultivation technologies for fruits and vegetables, as well as pest and disease management in horticultural crops, during their time at the institute.
