Karnataka to implement a new agriculture policy to promote Agri as an industry.

Stressing the importance of a new agriculture policy in the state, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai stated that his administration is considering implementing a new agriculture policy that would see agriculture promoted as an industry.

On Saturday, the chief minister addressed the people of his constituency after laying the foundation stone for the new textile park and Export company’s readymade garment factory in Khursapur village of Shiggaon taluk in the Haveri district.

The projected textile park would cover an area of 59.34 acres. Export Private Limited, the state’s first of its type, will be established on the Anchor-Promoter model with an investment of  ₹42 crores. Infrastructure facilities for textile units and readymade garment manufacturers would be built in three stages. For the first phase, the state government has allocated  ₹25 crores.

Families are expanding, but agriculture is not. To lessen reliance on agricultural land, a new agriculture policy will be implemented to assist farmers and their children in doing other vocations in addition to agriculture in their original area.

Textile industries provide more jobs, and the world is watching India in this area. As a result, in addition to megacities like Bengaluru, the government intends to establish a textile industry in rural regions. ‘Every taluk in the state would have a textile park in the next three to four years for the benefit of local farmers and their educated children,’ he added.

‘Around 10,000 employment would be produced in the Shiggaon Textile Park, with the majority of them going to locals. Around 3,000 employment will be generated in the first phase, and the remaining positions will be produced in the second phase by September 2023. As a result, around 5 lakh women in the state would be hired by local textile companies in the coming days’ CM said.

Bommai also lay the groundwork for a new cold storage facility and a new APMC building, as well as launched a veterinary hospital and other development projects in his district. Also Read | Agri and Horti universities should be merged – Shobha Karandlaje.
