Karnataka listed three districts to promote rose onion export under AEP

The government of Karnataka has listed the Chikkaballapur, Kolar and Bangalore (Rural) districts as rose onion clusters to promote their exports through various interventions under the Centre’s Agriculture Export Policy (AEP).

Four Chikkaballapur’s farmers producer organizations have recently signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BS Allium Cepa Exports to encourage rose onion exports, an official announcement said. According to the Karnataka State Agricultural Produce Processing and Export Corporation Ltd (KAPPEC), about 2,500 farmers are likely to gain benefits from this initiative.

Niraj Kumar Verma, CGM, Nabard, said that this joint project involving FPOs between his organization and KAPPEC tackles the supply chain constraints that typically concern rose onion crops and promotes their exports.

B Shivaraju, Managing Director, KAPPEC, has said the Agency is attempting to implement the AEP with the main objective of export facilitation, in line with the plan of action and strategy paper drafted by the State Government.
