IPGA will host the sixth edition of Pulses Conclave in Mumbai from February 16-18.

The India Pulses and Grains Association (IPGA), the industry’s governing organization, will host the sixth edition of The Pulses Conclave in Mumbai from February 16-18, 2023.

According to IPGA chairman Bimal Kothari, the Pulses Conclave 2023 should be entitled ‘Creating Sustainable Businesses in the Global Pulses Sector.’ ‘At the upcoming conclave, we are pleased to highlight and emphasize the development of world-class processing facilities, robust supply chain management, post-harvest crop management to mitigate losses and many other prospects that the pulses industry has to offer.’

Further, he said ‘We have long advocated for greater protein consumption through pulses to address issues such as protein insufficiency and malnutrition, as well as the numerous additional health benefits pulses provide. ‘We feel that value-added products from pulses have an exponential potential that can be realized in India and will go a long way toward enhancing farmers’ income,’ Kothari wrote in a note to stakeholders.

‘Pulse Production Sustainability’

The ‘Sustainability of Pulses Production’ has been included in Vision 2047, a strategy to make India one of the world’s top three economies and move it closer to developed nation status by the 100th anniversary of its independence.

‘We have worked proactively with government officials to aid in the development of dynamic policy responses by offering market-related inputs and strategic recommendations on domestic and global agriculture. The IPGA would also attempt to monitor a liberal and stable foreign trade (import and export) in pulses and grains in order to provide effective forward-looking assistance to the government in policy formation,’ Kothari said.

‘With the ongoing evolution of technology, we at IPGA will focus on building a sustainable environment for the pulses and agro products industry by focusing on emerging technologies and their application across the agriculture sector.’ Kothari added.
