The India Meteorological Department (IMD) anticipates that India will experience moderate monsoon rains in 2022.
This is the fourth consecutive year that Asia’s third-largest economy has experienced normal or above-average summer rainfall, which stimulates agriculture and overall economic growth.
According to the director-general of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, it is expected that India would receive rainfall this year that is equivalent to 103 percent of the country’s long-term average.

Average or normal precipitation is defined by the IMD as between 96% and 104% of a 50-year average of 87 cm (35 inches) for the full four-month season commencing in June.
