Because of his work in the field of plant-microbe interactions and how they affect nutrient cycling and how well nutrients are used in soils that support perennial horticulture, new research paths have opened up.

He is one of the people who came up with a new way to deliver microbes that are important to agriculture. This method uses encapsulation (biocapsules), designer micronutrients, and PGPR formulations.

These inventions have been licenced non-exclusively to a large number of private companies for the purpose of commercialization. Patents have been granted for six different iterations of this formulation.

He has won a number of awards, is a Fellow of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences in New Delhi, and has written more than 50 high-impact research papers.
