ICAR-IISR, Bayer Crop Science signed MoU to train people in controlling nematodes.
The ICAR-Indian Institute of Spices Research in Kozhikode and Bayer Crop Science Limited in Thane have signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding building up people’s skills, making a plant protection schedule, and managing nematodes.
The main goal of the collaboration is for IISR to share its research knowledge, expertise, and capabilities with Bayer. Bayer will also use IISR’s technical know-how to help develop good agricultural practices for growing spices like black pepper, cardamom, ginger, and turmeric.

The agreement also calls for testing Bayer chemicals to get rid of nematodes, educating farmers, and showing them how to get rid of nematodes in black pepper, ginger, and turmeric.
Director of the IISR, C. K. Thankamani, said, ‘It is a great moment for the Institute that both signatories are working together to develop best practices for safe spice production so that the goal and mission of the MoU can be met for the benefit of India’s farmers as a whole.’
