Friday, an MoU was signed between the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) and the Centre for Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) to encourage innovation in agriculture.
The agreement will lead to a joint effort to encourage deep-science innovation in agriculture, food technology, and related fields. This will help India’s agriculture sector become more sustainable and ensure food security.

At the third TechBharat Conclave in Mysore, the MoU was signed by Taslimarif Saiyed, the CEO and Director of C-CAMP, and Sridevi Annapurna Singh, the Director of CFTRI, in presence of Jitendra Singh, the Minister of Science and Technology, and Shobha Karandlaje, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare.
‘The agreement will identify and support agri-innovations and agri-entrepreneurship that are based on deep science and sustainability,’ said C-CAMP CEO and Director Taslimarif Saiyed.

The Ministers recognized that both organizations had helped develop agritech and agri-entrepreneurship in India. They also liked this effort to bring together ecosystems to make a bigger difference.
The new signing is meant to add to the work that C-CAMP is already doing in agritech and related areas through the Centre of Excellence for Agri Innovation, which it and the Karnataka government just opened. It will also make science-based business ideas stronger in the CFTRI, which is part of the CSIR.

Over the last few years, C-CAMP has directly funded, incubated, and coached more than 300 start-ups in the fields of health, agriculture, and the environment. It is also linked to about 2000 startups and entrepreneurs across the country. So far, CFTRI has come up with more than 400 technologies.
