Amit Shah, launched the ‘Dairy Sahakar’ scheme for dairy entrepreneurs and the dairy sector, with support from the National Cooperative Development Corporation and under the auspices of the Ministries of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, and Cooperation.
Amit Shah, Union Home Minister and Minister for Cooperation, has called for a transformation in the cooperative sector by bringing agriculture, dairy farmers, and others on board to build collective wealth.
If there is no assessment of work for a cooperative after 75 years, necessary improvements and changes will not be made. As a result, they become obsolete. As a result, the cooperative sector requires transformation.

According to Mr Shah, the formation of a cooperation ministry is a need identified at the right time, who also stated that a charter of objects for the Ministry is being prepared, with the aim of generating wealth through cooperation.
‘The cooperative sector will make a significant contribution to Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s target of becoming a $5 trillion economy,’ Shah added.
Since its inception in 1946 with only 250 litres of daily milk procurement, Amul has grown to approximately 300 lakh litres per day of milk processing capacity, with a collective turnover of the 18-member dairy unions exceeding 53,000 crores in 2020-21.
This provides a living for up to 36 lakh dairy families in Gujarat. Shah asked Amul to share its success storey with other agri-value chain cooperatives, in addition to dairy.
Many growers in other cooperative sectors produce organic and natural agricultural products but lack a marketing platform. Can Amul and other cooperatives provide them with a platform to market their products? ‘In order for these organic products to be sold in the global market and benefit our small farmers,’ he explained.
Shah launched the ‘Dairy Sahakar’ scheme for dairy entrepreneurs and the dairy sector, with support from the National Cooperative Development Corporation and under the auspices of the Ministries of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, and Cooperation. This event took place in the presence of Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel and Union Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala.

The scheme will have a corpus of 5,000 crores, which will be used to provide financial assistance to the dairy sector. The Minister also unveiled a branded organic fertiliser, an ethnoveterinary supplement plant, and Amul’s cheese warehouse with a 2,500-tonne storage capacity.
