Amazon launched Kisan store, offer competitive prices, doorstep delivery

"Amazon India launches Kisan store"

Amazon India has launched the Kisan (farmer) store, which will offer buyers competitive prices on agri-inputs such as seeds, farm tools, and accessories, as well as the added service concept of delivery to their doorstep. Union  Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has launched the Amazon Kisan store.

‘Farmers can buy stuff for thousands of agri-input product lines from over 20 brands on Amazon.in in a multilingual of five Indian languages, including Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam,’ the Amazon said in a statement issued.

Making it ‘Simple’

Farmers can also visit any of the over 50,000 Amazon Easy store locations across the country for assistance with their buying facility. The Amazon Easy store owners will assist farmers in browsing the selection, identifying a product they like, creating Amazon accounts, placing orders, and purchasing.

Hundreds of small and medium-sized businesses from across the country contribute to Amazon’s product selection. Farmers can choose cash on delivery as a payment method, in addition to other digital channels such as internet banking, UPI, Amazon Pay, and debit and credit cards.

‘It gives me great pleasure to announce the launch of Amazon Kisan Store. I hope that this initiative will benefit farmers and people associated with the farming community by allowing them to start engaging with Indian farmers in the modern era of the digital economy, increase the productivity and efficiency of agricultural and allied produce, as well as provide services such as logistics,’ Tomar said.

Tomar continued, ‘The Prime Minister is continuously paying attention to the development of the agriculture sector,’ highlighting various government projects and schemes. Agriculture is being modernized and new technologies are being introduced to help farmers advance. Our agricultural scientists’ abilities are well-known throughout the country and around the world. I hope that this venture is successful and beneficial and that Amazon India will continue to contribute to the Prime Minister’s dream of building a self-sufficient India.’

Amazon has also launched agronomy services earlier this week to assist Indian farmers.
