On February 17, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar will kick off the ‘Food, Agriculture, and Livelihood’ fortnight at the India Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

According to the government, the fortnight will highlight India’s strength in areas such as food processing, horticulture, dairy, fisheries, and organic farming, as well as the numerous investment opportunities available.

As part of the major theme ‘Millets,’ the fortnight will include a millets food festival, the release of the Millets Book, and a variety of seminars focused on its health and nutritional advantages.

It is worth noting that the United Nations General Assembly recently passed a resolution, proposed by India and supported by more than 70 countries, proclaiming 2023 as the ‘International Year of Millets.’

With global demand nearing pre-pandemic levels, the industry is expected to see increasing investment in agricultural infrastructures such as irrigation facilities, warehousing, and cold storage.
